Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown is seeking a nursing support professional to provide direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will perform nursing tasks, assist with activities of daily living, and help prepare patients for diagnostic services.

You will observe patients, document changes, and report promptly to the preceptor. The role supports care planning and collaboration with the healthcare team in a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under RN supervision following policies and protocols.
• Complete assigned nursing orders and assist patients with activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Observe patient status and document findings; report observations to preceptor or staff.
• Assist in development of care plans by reporting tests and patient observations.
• Assist with environmental tasks and transporting patients for diagnostics as needed.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by the preceptor, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.

• Observe patient status and responses. Document and report observations to the preceptor or other appropriate staff.

• Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.

• Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED required.

• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer required.
