The position offers a hybrid work environment with travel to facilities and outreach events. A Bachelor's degree is preferred and fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; applicants must have excellent oral and written skills.
• Experience with the elderly or people with disabilities is helpful.
• Spanish fluency is a plus and cross-cultural ability is important.
• Basic internet and computer skills required, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Must have a car and valid driver’s license.

Aufgaben

• Visit assigned long-term care facilities to educate residents about rights and investigate complaints.
• Attend resident and family council meetings and advise on issues.
• Develop relationships with long-term care staff.
• Learn relevant laws and regulations including Medicaid/Medicare.
• Complete training required by Illinois Department on Aging.
• Assist in recruitment, training, and retention of volunteer ombudsmen.
• Promote the Ombudsman Project throughout the service area.
• Perform intake, gather facts and advocate.
• Represent clients at hearings before the DHS Nursing Home Division on Medicaid eligibility.
• Perform other duties related to Community Ombudsman functions.
