Job summary

Legal Aid Chicago, located in downtown Chicago, seeks a full-time paralegal for its Employment Law team in the Immigrants & Workers’ Rights Practice Group to assist attorneys in cases involving workers’ rights.

Paralegals work with clients directly on matters such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage issues, reporting to a Supervisory Attorney. The role requires strong communication, organization, and a collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written skills, including drafting letters and basic pleadings.
• Strong organizational and information-gathering skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others; cross-cultural sensitivity.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation support to attorneys, including court and administrative filings and file maintenance.
• Assist with case assessment and preparation, including obtaining client files and supporting documents.
• Conduct intake and interview clients to determine potential claims and remedies.
• Maintain case files and accurate timekeeping in the electronic system.
• Attend training, team meetings, and assist with outreach.
