Job summary

Legal Aid Chicago seeks a full-time paralegal for the Employment Law team in the Immigrants & Workers’ Rights Practice Group. You will assist attorneys with cases involving workers’ rights, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and unemployment benefits.

Reports to a Supervisory Attorney and collaborates across departments. Hybrid work arrangement in downtown Chicago with possible travel to court or outreach events.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred; strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and organize information effectively.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software as needed.
• Spanish proficiency a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation support including court and agency filings and file maintenance.
• Assist with case assessment, intake, and collecting documents from clients and employers.
• Interview clients to determine potential claims and remedies.
• Offer referrals to other legal services when not accepted as clients.
• Maintain timely case files and timekeeping in the case management system.
• Attend team meetings and support attorneys in all stages of litigation.
