Job summary

GBMC Health Partners seeks a Staff Development Manager to lead interdisciplinary education, clinical practice enhancement, and quality improvement with a focus on patient safety. Under limited supervision, you’ll develop, implement, and evaluate staff education programs, fostering a culture of high reliability and evidence-based practice.

You will assess learning needs, oversee onboarding, and collaborate across departments to advance performance improvement and safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; master's degree in nursing education preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related clinical experience in healthcare; ambulatory experience preferred.
• Current Maryland RN license; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt within 1 year; CPR certified; CPR instructor within 6 months; MD driver's license.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication; problem solving and team facilitation.
• Knowledge of nursing and adult educational theories to assess, plan, implement and evaluate education.
• Ability to develop and evaluate educational programs and assess staff learning needs; proficient with MS Office and LMS.
• Experience in quality improvement, patient safety education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assess learning needs annually across multiple staff classifications and document gaps.
• Plan and develop outcomes and content reflecting current evidence and adult learning principles.
• Implement learning plans and adapt materials to learner level, needs, and culture.
• Facilitate onboarding and orientation for GBMC Health Partners staff and preceptor programs.
• Consult with leaders to address problems and develop improvement strategies.
• Evaluate learning activities using valid instruments and revise accordingly.
• Oversee orientation programs and collaborate on competency-based training.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety education, and policy development.
• Participate in accreditation activities and disseminate lessons learned.
