Job summary

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role operates within the NAI listing per NC DHHS and may include observer responsibilities monitoring assigned patients on a unit.

The position requires current HeartSaver or higher certification and completion of de-escalation training within 90 days of hire, with full-time, 0.9 FTE (3 twelve-hour shifts) and day shifts.

Qualifications

• NAI listing with NC Department of Health and Human Services is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training (Non-violent crisis intervention or other program) must be completed within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities and data collection; contributes to problem-solving and cost-saving efforts.
• Attends staff development programs and fulfills annual mandatory educational requirements; assists in orientation of new staff and students.
• Follows hospital and unit policies and procedures; maintains NAI licensure/certification and provides quality patient care.
• Builds interpersonal relations, listens to others, gives and receives constructive feedback, and works effectively in a team environment.
• Makes unit, department and hospital contributions by assisting in goal setting and cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Under supervision of the licensed nurse, assists in direct patient care and completes delegated tasks as per NC DHHS.
