Job summary

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and within the NC NAI framework. The role may also function in an Observer capacity to monitor assigned patients on a unit for a set period.

The position emphasizes quality improvement, patient safety, and effective teamwork, with required NAI listing and HeartSaver certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred or higher.
• NAI listing with NC DHHS is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver certification is required.
• De-escalation training (or equivalent) required by 90 days if not current at hire.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement activities and problem solving to identify improvement opportunities.
• Attends staff development programs and fulfills mandatory educational requirements.
• Maintains familiarity with unit policies, patient care responsibilities, and licensure requirements.
• Demonstrates effective teamwork and respectful communication within the care team.
• Monitors patients for escalating behaviors and communicates concerns to the nurse.
• Under supervision of a licensed nurse, assists in direct patient care and completes delegated tasks per NC DHHS.
