Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or GED is preferred or higher.
• NAI listing with NC Department of Health and Human Services is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 90 days of employment or maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement activities and data collection; adheres to safety, infection control, and fire/disaster regulations.
• Participates in staff development, education, orientation of new staff and students as delegated by supervising RN.
• Follows hospital and unit policies; maintains licensure/certification and acts within job descriptions and legal implications.
• Builds interpersonal relations and communicates effectively; collaborates with the care team and participates in handoffs and reporting.
• Assists in unit and hospital goals; helps in cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Under supervision of a licensed nurse, assists in direct patient care and completes delegated tasks as per NC DHHS guidelines.
• Monitors patients for escalating behaviors, alerts nurse if risk to self/others, follows patient care plan and documents in medical records.
