Job summary

ECU Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform delegated patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse at ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina. The role supports quality improvement initiatives, participates in staff education, and communicates within the patient care team.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, an NAI listing, and current CPR certification. De-escalation training must be completed within 90 days of hire, with 0.9 FTE and 12‑hour day shifts

Qualifications

• NAI listing with NC DHHS is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 90 days if not current at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities and data collection; supports infection control and safety regulations.
• Attends staff development programs and participates in orientation of new staff and students as delegated by supervising RN.
• Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and completes delegated tasks per NC DHHS guidelines.
• Maintains familiarity with policies, job descriptions, and licensure; communicates effectively with the patient care team and documents in the medical record.
• Monitors patients for escalating behaviors, notifies nurse of risk, and engages patients in distraction activities as needed.
• Participates in unit and hospital goal setting and supports cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
