Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in patient care across Orange and Irvine campuses. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene, manage unit safety, and help with stocking and clerical tasks as needed.

Ideal candidates have CNA or LVN credentials (or are in an accredited nursing program) with 1 clinical semester, English proficiency, and a current BLS certification. Weekend/holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must float between the Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a CNA are not required to obtain it at this time.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be CNA, LVN, or enrolled in accredited nursing program with one clinical semester completed.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with other duties as assigned.
