Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Unit Representative for the Nursery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. This per diem, day‑shift role supports the nursing team by handling front-desk tasks, patient flow, and documentation with a focus on patient and family experience.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, processing admissions/discharges, updating EMR, and coordinating with physicians and nurses to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required and previous clerical/administrative experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, multitasking and computer skills are essential.
• Experience as Unit Clerk/Unit Secretary or in hospital/medical office preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, physician order entry, and healthcare documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients, families, visitors, and physicians with exceptional customer service.
• Answering telephones, call bells, and intercoms and directing requests appropriately.
• Coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges with accurate records.
• Entering physician orders and updating patient records in EMR.
• Preparing, organizing, and maintaining unit reports and documentation.
• Supporting daily operations of the nursing station and maintaining supplies.
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient experiences.
