Job summary

The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY is seeking a Charge Nurse to coordinate the MDS program and oversee nursing staff in our long-term care facility. You will help ensure high-quality veteran care and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and CMS regulations.

Requires KY RN licensure and at least two years of RN experience; a BSN can substitute for one year. This is a full-time on-site role with probation and ongoing staff development responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of experience.
• Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing staff in the MDS process and coordinate coverage.
• Serve as a preceptor and provide ongoing MDS education.
• Track Medicare Part A eligibility for skilled services.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine medical necessity.
• Review and audit MDS assessments and care plans for accuracy.
• Provide training on documentation standards and skilled care.
• Coordinate with finance to ensure billing aligns with documentation.
• Communicate with CMS and managed care for authorization of benefits.
• Maintain PPS schedule for residents using Medicare benefits.
• Assist with floor coverage including meds and treatments.
