Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking a Nurse III (Nurse Supervisor) to oversee nursing care for incarcerated offenders in outpatient clinics, infirmaries, or specialized cell houses. The role may involve unit supervision, shift work, weekends, or on-call duties to ensure continuous care.

The position requires current RN licensure, 3 years of related experience, and the ability to supervise staff, with a focus on safety, documentation, and offender well-being.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN licensure from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
• A bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience; a master's/doctorate may substitute for two years.
• Must meet required competencies including supervision, communication, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct professional nursing care for incarcerated offenders.
• Deliver patient education and coordinate self-care instructions.
• Provide clinic, infirmary, or specialized unit care tailored to offender diagnoses.
• Maintain accurate inmate medical records and ensure safety in the clinical area.
