Job summary

The State of Colorado, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Nurse III (Nurse Supervisor) at Fremont Correctional Facility to supervise professional nursing care for incarcerated offenders in outpatient, infirmary, or cell-house settings.

You will coordinate clinical staffing, ensure accurate health records, and deliver education while maintaining safety and security. The role may require various shifts, weekends, and on-call duties. Valid RN license and correctional experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license (Colorado Board of Nursing or any eNLC state).
• Three years of professional nursing experience related to the job.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for one year; Master's/Doctorate may substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Document patient records accurately in clinical systems.
• Educate patients on self-care and medications; discuss potential side effects.
• Provide clinic/infirmary nursing care tailored to inmates.
• Perform triage, sickline, and emergency assessments.
• Maintain safety and security of the clinical environment.
• Manage payroll, scheduling, PMP; oversee shift responsibilities and staffing.
• Assist in hiring, orient staff, and participate in promotional/exam processes.
• Support policy compliance and on-call coverage.
