Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced nurse leader to support nursing practice quality and service delivery in the department. The role includes interviewing and supervising nursing staff, coordinating communications across shifts, and collaborating with the manager to ensure compliance with laws and policies.

You will round with patients, teammates, and physicians, delegate care, define outcomes, monitor progress, and assist with staffing to meet acuity needs.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the appropriate state (required).
• Minimum two years nursing experience preferred; management experience preferred.
• BSN degree required; enroll in BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete within 3 years.
• BLS certification required per policy guidelines.
• Professional certification required within 1 year of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Supports the manager in nursing practice quality and delivery of care.
• Assists with interview, selection, and supervision of nursing personnel.
• Coordinates communication via staff meetings/huddles to exchange information and promote dialogue.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and policies.
• Rounds on patients, teammates, and physicians to assess satisfaction and care quality.
• Delegates care to appropriate staff per policy parameters.
• Identifies expected outcomes to direct continuity of care and operations.
• Evaluates progress toward outcomes and disseminates information to the team.
• Performs nursing care, assists with treatments and administers medications as needed.
• Manages patient flow and staffing based on volume/acuity with available resources.
