Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Nurse Leader to oversee clinical and support staff, ensuring safe patient care and efficient department operations. The role involves directing day-to-day activities, coordinating resources, and promoting communication among patients, families, and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Nursing (or equivalent) and several years of acute care nursing experience, with strong emphasis on leadership, budgeting, and program development for service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Related Field; or Associate Degree and enrolled in BSN program within 2 years of hire and complete BSN degree within 5 years
• Typically requires 3 years of experience in clinical nursing within an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide work direction to clinical and support staff to coordinate resources for efficient procedures and patient flow.
• Support direct patient care using the nursing process to deliver safe, quality care and, if needed, perform daily patient rounding.
• Coordinate patient care team needs, facilitate communication among patients, families, departments and staff.
• Act as a resource for employees, provide training and input on performance, monitor and review work progress.
• Assist with human resources tasks such as interviewing and resolving employee concerns, in collaboration with unit leadership.
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust to maintain productivity.
• Ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements and assist in budgeting and supply management.
• Support development of new programs and vendor coordination for equipment and services.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care and growth/development considerations per department standards.
