Responsibilities

• Provides work direction to staff and coordinates resources to support procedures and patient flow.
• Promotes quality patient care and advocates for rights of patients and staff.
• Coordinates needs of physicians and liaises between medical staff and nursing staff to solve problems.
• Maintains intra- and inter-department relationships and communicates with medical supply vendors.
• Evaluates patient care quality in the specialty area with unit and organization resources.
• Engages in ongoing process improvement with the department manager.
• Serves as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, and health care staff.
• Develops orientation and continuing education programs for staff; teaches and guides staff.
• Identifies equipment/supply needs and contributes to budgets for operating and capital equipment.
• Supports Shared Leadership and Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Performs HR responsibilities including coaching, performance reviews, hiring recommendations, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensures compliance with the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and applicable policies and laws.
• Ensures age-appropriate care and adherence to department policies and procedures.
