Job summary

Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento seeks a Nurse Shift Manager to oversee a unit of frontline nurses, ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care across shifts.

You will lead staffing, mentor staff, coordinate patient assignments, and uphold emergency procedures while communicating effectively with the team and other departments.

BSN required with 2+ years as an RN in acute care; California RN license, BLS and ACLS; a $15,000 sign‑on bonus is offered for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• BSN required for the role.
• Minimum two years of clinical RN experience.
• Current California RN license (Registered Nurse CA).
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA).
• ACLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA).

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To be successful in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

We are offering a $15,000 Sign-on Bonus to new hires who meet the eligbility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse
• Registered Nurse: CA

Preferred

• OR circulating RN experience within an acute care setting

Pay Range

$80.07 - $107.23 /hour
