Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles seeks a Nurse Shift Manager to oversee a department of frontline nurses and ensure exceptional patient care. You will advocate for your team and support them in reaching their full potential, aligning with departmental goals.

You must be accountable, a strong communicator in 1:1 and group settings, and comfortable holding tough conversations as you manage performance and unit operations.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience at hire.
• Current California RN license and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff on a specific shift, assigns patients based on condition and skill.
• Monitors, educates, and ensures quality patient care; institutes emergency procedures as needed.
• Anticipates staffing needs and takes proactive steps to address them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records for readiness of subsequent shifts.

As our Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.


• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.


• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.


• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

$60.65 - $92.23 /hour
