Job summary

Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Nurse Shift Manager to oversee a department of frontline nurses and advocate for their growth. You will align staffing with unit goals, supervise shifts, and coach staff toward peak performance.

Mercy General, a 310-bed acute care nonprofit, was founded in 1925 and serves the Sacramento region. Requirements: BSN, CA RN, BLS and ACLS. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience.
• Registered Nurse licensure in CA required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• OR circulating RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a shift and assigns patients based on care needs.
• Monitors and educates staff on patient care and implements emergency procedures.
• Anticipates staffing needs and responds proactively.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and maintains patient records for upcoming shifts.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team. Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. To be successful in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

We are offering a $15,000 Sign-on Bonus to new hires who meet the eligbility requirements.

Job Requirements

• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred

• OR circulating RN experience within an acute care setting
