Job summary

Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, GA is seeking a Nurse Extern to support the RN in delivering safe, age-appropriate care and to help with transport, admissions and discharges. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, vitals, nutrition, documentation, and supply management under RN supervision.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, maintain a 2.5 GPA, provide proof of HS education, and have completed foundational nursing coursework.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs to support dignity, comfort and safety.
• Help with mobility, transfers and use of assistive devices under RN direction.
• Record routine vital signs and height/weight; report abnormalities to RN.
• Assist with nutrition, meals and monitoring diet tolerance per orders.
• Maintain clean, infection-free patient areas and equipment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
• Support patient and family education and prepare patients for tests/procedures as directed.
• Handle clerical tasks and EMR data entry; manage supplies and communication flows.
• Operate and care for patient-care supplies and equipment per policy.
• Perform competency-based skills under RN supervision (e.g., 12-lead ECGs, venipuncture, specimen collection)
