Job summary

Atrium Health in Macon, GA is seeking a Nurse Extern to support the Registered Nurse in delivering high‑quality, age‑appropriate care. The role includes assisting with ADLs, transports, admissions, discharges, and other workflow activities under supervised competency validation.

You will perform routine measurements, assist with nutrition, and maintain infection prevention standards while supporting documentation for the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited nursing program and good academic standing.
• Foundational nursing coursework completed or in progress, with competency validation as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to support patient comfort and safety.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation under RN direction.
• Document routine vitals and intake/output; report abnormalities promptly.
• Support nutrition and hydration through meal setup and monitoring diet tolerance.
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments and infection control standards.
• Observe changes in patient condition and report to RN.
• Assist in patient education and orientation under RN guidance.
• Provide clerical support and assist with unit workflow and supplies.
• Perform competency-validated technical skills under RN supervision.

Education

Enrolled in accredited nursing program

GPA 2.5 or higher in weighted 4.0 scale
