Job summary

Atrium Health Navicent is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist Registered Nurses in delivering safe, high‑quality, age‑appropriate care. Under RN supervision, you will perform delegated tasks and support transport, admissions, discharges, and unit workflow.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, active enrollment in a recognized accredited nursing program with a 2.5 GPA, and completion of foundational nursing coursework. Orientation and on‑site training are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program with GPA 2.5 or higher.
• Completion of foundational nursing coursework prior to supervised clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort under RN direction.
• Support mobility, transfers, and use of assistive devices per policy.
• Record routine vitals and report changes to the RN.
• Support nutrition, hydration, and meal setup as prescribed.
• Maintain clean, infection‑free patient areas and proper equipment.
• Document and communicate patient changes promptly to the RN.
