Job summary

Aurora Health Care seeks a Nurse Extern to support registered nurses in delivering safe, age-appropriate patient care under supervision. You will perform delegated tasks and assist with ADLs, mobility, data collection, and unit flow under RN guidance.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited nursing program with minimum GPA and foundational nursing coursework; successful completion of required coursework and competency validation prior to onboarding may be needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated nursing fundamentals competency through coursework or prior practice.
• Ability to perform approved clinical skills under RN precepted training.
• Maintain good academic standing and progress in accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Supports ADLs for patients with dignity and safety.
• Assists with mobility, transfers, and ambulation under RN direction.
• Obtains and documents routine vitals and measurements.
• Reinforces patient and family education as directed.
• Performs basic clerical tasks and maintains unit readiness.
• Completes competency-validated skills under RN supervision.
