Job Description

The Nurse Clinician will work in a multidisciplinary environment requiring exceptional interpersonal skills, including establishing and maintaining effective relationships with patients, physicians, and clinical and administrative units. This position involves performing patient assessments via phone or in person, implementing nursing interventions, and initiating patient education tailored to the unit's population.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Report and assist in rectifying deficiencies. Supervise the care of medical equipment.
  • Provide pre-attending care, perform comprehensive assessments, document findings, and maintain patient confidentiality. Follow protocols for releasing patient/medical information.
  • Perform routine nursing duties such as phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and preparation of lab specimens. Demonstrate competency in complex procedures like conscious sedation and chemotherapy administration.
  • Interpret test results, take remedial actions, and document all interventions clearly and legibly.
  • Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies to ensure appropriate patient care. Triage calls using clinical assessment skills and document assessments properly.
  • Manage urgent and emergent situations following organizational protocols. Operate emergency equipment as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and physicians, proactively addressing patient care needs. Delegate tasks to LPNs and Medical Assistants per Illinois law and protocols.
  • Comply with policies, suggest improvements, and participate in community outreach and educational programs.
  • Coordinate and ensure patient understanding of educational materials and participate in staff training and community education initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school
  • State-licensed Registered Nurse
  • Basic CPR certification
  • At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (may be required for certain positions)
