Job Description

The Nurse Clinician will work in a multidisciplinary environment requiring exceptional interpersonal skills, including establishing and maintaining effective relationships with patients, physicians, and clinical and administrative units. This role involves utilizing nursing skills to perform patient assessments via phone or in person, implementing nursing interventions, and organizing patient education tailored to the unit's patient population.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure OSHA compliance. Report and assist in rectifying deficiencies. Supervise medical equipment care.
  2. Perform pre-attending care, including comprehensive assessments, documentation, and communication with healthcare providers. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to protocols for information release.
  3. Execute routine nursing duties such as phlebotomy, medication administration, vital sign measurement, and lab specimen preparation. Demonstrate competency in complex procedures like conscious sedation and chemotherapy.
  4. Interpret test abnormalities, take remedial actions, and document interventions clearly and legibly.
  5. Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies to ensure appropriate patient care. Triage calls using clinical assessment skills and document assessments accurately.
  6. Manage medical emergencies per protocols, operate emergency equipment, and serve as a resource for staff and physicians. Delegate tasks lawfully and proactively address patient care needs.
  7. Follow all policies related to patient care, suggest improvements, and implement new policies promptly.
  8. Coordinate and ensure patient understanding of educational materials, provide staff education, and participate in community outreach programs.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • State-licensed Registered Nurse
  • CPR certification
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Ambulatory Oncology experience
