Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC seeks a Structural Engineering Intern to assist a project team on designing new power plants or upgrading existing systems, components, and structures.

You will work under engineers and gain hands-on experience in structural analysis, steel frames, concrete members, and foundations, with emphasis on materials behavior and design methods. This internship also touches automation/applications in engineering workflows.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• ABET-accredited program preferred.
• Coursework in steel and concrete design is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Review structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
• Support a team of engineers in designing steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
