Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for a summer 2027 start in Warrenville, IL. You will assist engineers on projects involving design, analysis, and upgrades for power plants, including steel frames, concrete members, and supports.

Gain hands-on experience under experienced professionals on real-world engineering tasks. The role emphasizes applying materials knowledge, structural analysis, and design fundamentals while supporting a collaborative project team and utilizing

Qualifications

Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
Enrollment in ABET-accredited program preferred.
Coursework in steel and concrete design preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
Assist in the review of structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
Directly apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design.
Support a team of engineers in performing structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
