Job summary

X Energy, LLC is expanding its Structural Analysis team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. We seek engineers to design and develop mechanical systems, structures, and components for nuclear products, guiding them from concept through prototyping, testing, and commissioning.

You will perform structural analyses on reactor vessels, piping, internals, and high-temperature materials; apply FEA tools and hand calculations; document design bases and verification plans; and ensure compliance with industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Level II–V requires 2–15 years of engineering experience, depending on level.
• Experience in structural analysis including hand calculations and FEA software.
• Familiarity with nuclear reactor components and safety-focused design.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist structural analysis for reactor systems, including pressure vessels, piping, internals, fuel, and graphite components.
• Use FEA tools and hand calculations to assess stress, deformation, degradation, and lifetime performance.
• Develop concepts and support SSC design for nuclear products with a focus on safety.
• Coordinate requirements and codes with stakeholders and systems engineers.
• Plan analyses to verify SSCs meet technical specs and design requirements.
• Document design bases, calculations, and drawings per procedures.
• Develop V&V plans for analytical tools and support qualification.
• Ensure work complies with X-energy quality procedures and participate in design reviews.
