Job summary

X Energy, LLC in Gaithersburg, MD seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to oversee a team responsible for subdiscipline work across projects. You will direct contributors, support project teams, and assist with design, analysis and drafting of systems for advanced reactor plants.

The role requires leadership of design cycles, staff development, and collaboration with partners and suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
• Typically, ten years of engineering experience. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
• Experience in at least one area: designing/mechanical or fluid systems; hardware ownership with manufacturing/testing oversight; CAD/PLM software.
• UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill or similar.

Responsibilities

• Manage the execution of mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles.
• Lead team responsible for mechanical design of advanced reactor plants to inform design, manufacturing, construction and licensing strategy.
• Manage utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensure qualified engineers perform work.
• Adjudicate technical differences to determine best option and foster engineering dialogue.
• Lead design cycle sprints and coordinate convergence of efforts to deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
