Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET technologist to provide a professional, caring atmosphere in a fast-paced nuclear medicine environment across multiple sites in Massachusetts, including Dedham.

The role requires NRC/state regulatory compliance, ARRT/NMTCB registration, CPR, and at least one year of nuclear medicine experience. Strong IV skills and patient handling are essential for daily imaging procedures and data entry.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year nuclear medicine experience required.
• CPR certification required.
• Must be ARRT and/or NMTCB registered.
• Proficient in starting IVs and patient assistance.
• Able to sit at a computer and assist patients with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Follow Shields Health Care Group policies to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure radiotracer concentrations.
• Record patient data in the Tech Data Entry program and complete exam forms.
• Forward PET data to Radiologist after exam and provide films when appropriate.
• Refilm cases as time allows and assist clerical staff as needed.
• Maintain clean, stocked PET rooms and re-supply equipment.

Job Description

What you will do:

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

What you need:

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
• Must be certified in CPR
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.
• Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
