Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET technologist to join our clinical team. You will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all patient groups while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.

You will operate PET equipment, ensure patient safety, document results, and support radiology staff. The role requires state licensure, certification, and ARRT/NMTCB registration, with emphasis on accurate data entry and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current state license to practice nuclear medicine.
• CPR certification is required.
• Registered with ARRT and/or NMTCB.

Responsibilities

• Follow all policies to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure radioisotope concentrations.
• Record and document patient data in the Tech Data Entry system.
• Forward PET data to Radiologist after exam completion.
• Maintain and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Job Description

What you will do

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows.
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work.
• Must be certified in CPR.
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be proficient in starting IVs.
• Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Additional Job Description

Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits.

Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
