Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET technologist to provide a professional, patient-focused environment while working in a fast-paced nuclear medicine setting. Shifts: Mondays & Fridays 6a-4:30p.

The role requires ARRT/NMTCB registration, state licensure, CPR, and at least one year of nuclear medicine experience. You will operate PET equipment, ensure patient safety, document exam data, and collaborate with radiologists.

Qualifications

  • State license for the employed state.
  • CPR certification required.
  • ARRT and/or NMTCB registration.
  • At least 1 year nuclear medicine experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in starting IVs.
  • Able to sit at a computer for long periods; assist mobility; lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all policies to ensure patient safety.
  • Follow NRC/state/JCAHO regulations.
  • Inform patients about their exam.
  • Operate PET equipment to image and measure isotopes.
  • Perform hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of contraindications and hazards.
  • Position patient accurately and ensure comfort.
  • Maintain contact with patient during exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to the exam.
  • Record patient data in Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET data to Radiologist.
  • Refilm cases as time allows.
  • Assist clerical staff as needed.
  • Clean and resupply equipment and rooms.

Job Description
What you will do:

  • Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  • Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  • Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
  • Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  • Refilm cases as time allows
  • Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications
What you need:

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Additional Job Description
Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

The incumbent will perform work of a lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, and work of higher classification for training and development purposes or as situationally warranted.
