Job summary

System One in Bellevue, WA is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer to support development for nuclear island systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable I&C solutions for SSCs, focusing on system and component design, documentation, and integration.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 10+ years in I&C, strong knowledge of codes and standards, and the ability to lead technical reviews and coordinate with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Controls or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of direct instrumentation and controls engineering experience.
• Proven ability to design, integrate, and troubleshoot complex I&C systems.
• Experience applying codes, licensing, and regulatory criteria to I&C design.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review system- and component-level specifications.
• Perform evaluations per nuclear codes and NRC regulations.
• Specify instrumentation techniques for advanced reactor tech.
• Create and maintain design documentation (SRDs, SDDs, ICDs, EDS).
• Develop drawing packages incl. P&IDs and control diagrams.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical oversight of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support licensing activities and safety analysis report development.
• Assist with testing, startup, commissioning, and qualification.
