Job summary

System One, including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., is seeking an I&C Design Engineer for a Bellevue, WA contract. You will design, prototype, test, and commission system solutions for Sodium Fast Reactor technologies, interfacing with a global team to deliver compliant documents and data.

Required are a BS in Controls/Electrical and 10+ years in instrumentation and controls design, plus CAD proficiency and familiarity with nuclear QA standards. Onsite workload with competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• BS in Controls, Electrical, or related field from an accredited university.
• 10+ years in instrumentation and controls design and development.
• Diagnostics, industrial I&C platforms, and data reporting skills.
• Nuclear reactor safety systems experience (desired).
• Familiarity with IEEE and IEC standards (desired).
• Knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 QA standards.
• Experience designing for high-temperature processes (desired).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and resolve conflicts.
• PFD and P&ID experience (desired).
• CAD: AutoCAD and SolidWorks (desired).
• Strong technical writing, communication and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with leadership and independent work ability.
• Multidisciplinary, multi-task capability.
• Experience with I&C startup testing procedures (desired).
• High integrity and teamwork orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide system design, prototype development and testing for I&C systems.
• Interface with scientists and engineers across diverse teams.
• Develop and review system-level specifications and scopes of work.
• Perform design evaluations per nuclear codes and NRC requirements.
• Specify instrumentation measurement techniques and accuracy.
• Create and review design documents: System Requirements and SIDs.
• Create and manage P&ID, control architecture, and installation drawings.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage data deliverables.
• Support licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports.
• Assist in project planning and change control processes.
• Lead or support I&C and electrical system design from requirements to final design.
