Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking an NPD Industrial Engineer to lead industrialization activities from design through production launch at our South Chesterfield, VA site. You will own engineering change plans, coordinate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, and drive scalable, cost-effective manufacturing processes.

The role requires strong DFMA, PFMEA, and Lean skills, plus hands-on experience with PPAP and ramp-up. Travel to supplier sites and plants may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in product industrialization, manufacturing engineering, or engineering-change implementation within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly, PFMEA, control plans, process capability, and Lean methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead industrialization activities for New Product Development from design to production launch.
• Own ECP development and execution, including sequencing, dates, inventory disposition, and training.
• Serve as liaison between Product Engineering and Operations to translate designs into repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Drive manufacturing feasibility, DFM/DFA, process risk, capacity, tooling, and labor reviews during Stage-Gate.
• Develop launch plans covering process flow, workstations, equipment, fixtures, routings, and work instructions.
• Coordinate prototypes, pilot builds, PPAP activities, and process validation.
• Lead cross-functional manufacturing-readiness reviews and establish entry/exit criteria for pilots and launches.
• Define inventory disposition for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and service parts; ensure BOMs and routings are up to date.
