Job summary

Clopay Corporation is seeking an NPD Design Engineer to design new products and improve existing ones at the Mountaintop facility. You will engage in R&D, conceptual design, prototyping, sourcing, testing, and manufacturing integration, driving engineering changes, patent work, and compliance testing.

The role requires 5–7+ years of relevant experience or a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, strong CAD skills, hands-on fabrication ability, and cross-functional collaboration across a broad team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5–7+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong mechanical intuition and hands-on aptitude.
• Experience turning 3D CAD concepts into physical prototypes.
• Proficient in Inventor or SolidWorks for 3D modeling.
• Skilled with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Design new parts and systems for overhead doors.
• Create part and assembly drawings using Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Develop prototypes with technicians.
• Write engineering standards and calculations.
• Implement new products via engineering change orders.
• Coordinate with legal for patent filings.
• Perform analyses (FEA, wind load, fasteners).
• Maintain BOMs and ERP data.
• Design test plans and fixtures and report results.
• Ensure conformance to codes/standards.
