Job summary

Clopay Corporation & CornellCookson is seeking an NPD Design Engineer at the Mountaintop Facility to drive new product design and enhancement through R&D, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing integration.

You will collaborate with project engineers, leverage Inventor/SolidWorks, develop prototypes with technicians, and ensure designs meet performance and safety standards. A competitive starting salary and full benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5 to 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong mechanical intuition and hands‑on aptitude.
• Proficient with 3D CAD using Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
• Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional leadership.
• Experience with sheet metal structures, motors, controls and sensing elements.

Responsibilities

• Develop new parts and systems for overhead doors.
• Use Autodesk Inventor for part drawings and layouts.
• Develop prototypes with technicians and maintain shop area.
• Create engineering standards and calculations for variable designs.
• Implement new products via engineering change order process.
• Collaborate with legal to patent novel designs.
• Perform analyses (FEA, wind load, fasteners).
• Manage BOMs and ERP data for new designs.
• Design test plans and fixtures, coordinate testing.
• Generate and maintain test reports.
