Job summary
Clopay Corporation is seeking an NPD Design Engineer at our Mountaintop facility to design new products and improve existing designs. You will engage in R&D, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing integration, applying strong CAD skills and rigorous design practices.
The role emphasizes collaboration with project engineers, prototype development, and ensuring designs meet structural and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5–7+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong mechanical intuition and hands-on aptitude for mechanisms.
- Proficient with 3D CAD using Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
- Excellent communication and ability to lead a cross-functional team.
- Proficiency with hand tools and basic power tools.
Responsibilities
- Design new parts and systems for overhead doors with Project Engineers.
- Create part/assembly drawings in 3D CAD and apply drafting standards.
- Develop prototypes and support manufacturing integration and testing.
- Establish engineering standards and calculations for variable designs.
- Coordinate with legal to write patents on novel designs.
- Execute engineering change orders and maintain BOMs in ERP.
