Job summary

The Children’s Guild in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher. The position supports standard-based instruction, maintains classroom routines, and monitors student progress under the Principal and Teacher of Record’s supervision.

The Teacher of Record handles IEPs, compliance, and SE case management. Responsibilities include delivering differentiated instruction, coordinating with families, and ensuring a positive learning environment while meeting school goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent required; Education or related field preferred.
  • Teaching certification preferred or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Previous classroom teaching or long-term substitute experience preferred.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Implement lesson plans and deliver engaging instruction.
  • Maintain classroom routines and student safety.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student needs.
  • Monitor attendance, grades, and academic progress.

Job Details: Job Location: The Childrens Guild Brooklyn Campus - Baltimore, MD 21225. Position Type: Full Time. Education Level: 4 Year Degree. Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.24 Hourly.

Summary

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher serves as the classroom instructor during an extended teacher absence, maintaining continuity of instruction, classroom routines, and student learning. Working under the supervision of the Principal and in collaboration with the Teacher of Record, the Long-Term Substitute delivers standards-based instruction, manages the classroom environment, monitors student progress, collaborates with staff and families, and supports the school's mission and instructional goals. The Teacher of Record retains responsibility for IEP development, legal compliance, and special education case management.

Accountability
  • Reports to the Principal or designee.
  • Maintains continuity of classroom instruction and daily operations during the assignment.
  • Collaborates with the Teacher of Record and school leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day instructional direction to classroom assistants and support staff assigned to the classroom; does not complete formal evaluations.
