Job summary

The Children's Guild in Maryland seeks a Long-Term Substitute Teacher to serve as the classroom instructor during an extended absence, maintaining instruction, routines, and student learning under the supervision of the Principal and in collaboration with the Teacher of Record.

The Teacher of Record retains responsibility for IEP development, legal compliance, and case management, while the substitute delivers standards-based instruction, monitors progress, and communicates with families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required; education or related field preferred.
  • Teaching certification is preferred or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Previous classroom teaching or long-term substitute experience preferred.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Maintain classroom routines, procedures, and student safety.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student needs.
  • Monitor attendance, grades, and academic progress.

Accountability


  • Reports to the Principal or designee.

  • Maintains continuity of classroom instruction and daily operations during the assignment.

  • Collaborates with the Teacher of Record and school leadership.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day instructional direction to classroom assistants and support staff assigned to the classroom; does not complete formal evaluations.
