Job summary

Civil Science is seeking a highly experienced Survey Division Manager to lead and expand our survey program across North Dakota. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a licensed surveyor who thrives at the intersection of strategy, client engagement, and team development.

You'll shape the division's direction, oversee project delivery, and build relationships with public agencies while identifying new opportunities to stabilize and scale our presence in the region.

Qualifications

• North Dakota PLS license preferred but not mandatory.
• 12+ years of surveying experience with strong technical depth.
• Proven ability to develop and sustain revenue-generating client relationships in North Dakota surveying.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel and meet client needs throughout North Dakota and surrounding states.
• Proven experience overseeing and managing multi-project delivery.
• Lead teams, think critically, and support multiple departments.
• Strong understanding of project management: budgeting, scheduling, quality control, resource planning.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and uphold quality management processes.
• Balance technical work with operational and strategic responsibilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work on active construction sites with uneven terrain and varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction for the survey division aligned with company goals.
• Lead division planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
• Drive division quality, risk management, and safety compliance.
• Develop staff through mentoring, hiring, and performance programs.
• Represent Civil Science in municipal, regional, and state forums and industry groups.
• Lead business development for the ND survey market and pursue new clients.
• Oversee proposal development and monitor funding cycles for opportunities.
• Cultivate long-term relationships with agencies and community partners.
