Job summary
LANXESS is seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development for NORAM based in Pittsburgh to lead the expansion of its custom manufacturing portfolio across North America. You will manage strategic relationships with Big Pharma and biotech accounts, shaping a regional growth agenda with executive visibility.
In this role you will build market intelligence, create account maps, and advance opportunities through technical and commercial evaluation, coordinating with the European CDMO/CMO
Qualifications
- Degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, or a comparable field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience and proven pharma/CDMO exposure.
- Proven success in new business acquisition across North America.
- Strong networking, communication, market analysis, and competitive intelligence skills.
- Frequent business travel will be required.
Responsibilities
- Identify, approach, and qualify new customers and project opportunities in defined pharmaceutical and biotechnology segments.
- Build market intelligence, account maps, and target lists for North America.
- Develop customer relationships and advance opportunities through technical and commercial evaluation.
- Cooperate with the pharma sales and marketing team to maximize customer acquisition
- Identify opportunities for commercialization in adjacent custom manufacturing and catalog products
- Maintain accurate CRM data, visit reports, opportunity tracking, and pipeline documentation.
- Strengthen market visibility through relevant trade fairs, conferences, and seminars.
