Job summary

Point Foundation seeks a hands-on, systems-minded Controller to run the day-to-day finance operations and build scalable infrastructure for growth. The role partners with the CFO to close each month, prepare financial reports, and keep the organization audit-ready all year.

The position reports to the CFO, with one coordinator-level direct report, and offers a remote role based in the greater Los Angeles area with relocation support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience with nonprofit fund accounting.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online; familiarity with Office suite.
• Experience with Bill.com and AI tools to streamline work.
• Strong financial reporting and data analysis skills; audit coordination.
• Hands-on role with day-to-day accounting and staff supervision.
• Strategic mindset for scalable finance operations and data governance.
• Discretion handling sensitive financial and personal information.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, scholarship payments, and payroll entries.
• Reconcile cash and investments; manage weekly/monthly close processes.
• Collaborate with CFO on monthly closes and reporting for leadership.
• Ensure scholarship funds disbursement timing and accuracy.
• Prepare for annual audit; coordinate with external auditors.
• Lead process improvements and automation, including AI-enabled workflows.
• Coordinate finance practices across departments to enable growth.
• Supervise one coordinator-level staff member.
