Job summary

The California Community Foundation is seeking a Controller to lead the financial operations and reporting for the organization serving Los Angeles County. The role oversees accounting processes, audits, budgets, and policy development in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities include managing the annual external audit, producing monthly reports, supervising staff, and coordinating tax and insurance matters.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit or foundation accounting (5–10 years).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field; CPA required; MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily accounting operations including cash receipts and disbursements.
• Manages annual financial audit with outside auditor and assists CFO with budgets.
• Prepares monthly financial reports and year-end statements with footnotes.
• Oversees foundation insurance policies and risk management.
• Coordinates tax return preparation for the foundation and affiliates.
• Supervises Accounting Manager and staff; develops policies and internal controls.
• Leads interdepartmental collaboration to ensure efficient financial operations.
