Job summary

Foundation for Louisiana seeks a Controller to lead the Finance team of five, overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance. This exempt, full-time role can be based in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, with remote work currently in effect and occasional travel between offices.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 8–10 years nonprofit accounting experience (or 3–4 years auditing nonprofits).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• 8–10 years nonprofit accounting experience or 3–4 years auditing nonprofit organizations.
• Experience working with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee key accounting functions (AP, AR, journal entries, reports, reconciliations).
• Coordinate with project managers on budget forecasting.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting systems; implement improvements.
• Assist CFO in financial reporting and budgeting for management decisions.
• Train, hire, and supervise accounting staff.
• Lead month-end close and financial reporting process.
• Prepare for and coordinate annual audit and tax return.
