Job summary

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support general accounting functions under the direction of the Controller. The role includes AP/AR processing, cash receipts, and fixed asset accounting.

Responsibilities also cover journal entries, vendor management, GL review, and assisting with the annual audit. An Associate degree is required, with 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred, and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

Associates degree in business/finance/accounting or equivalent required (minimum).
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2 years accounting experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
Proficiency with multiple financial systems and data exports.

Responsibilities

Export financial data from source systems into the accounting system on a weekly basis.
Research account issues and prepare journal entries as needed.
Manage accounts payable vendor setup and maintenance; ensure 1099 status is correct.
Enter cash receipts and assist with bank deposits and collections as needed.
Maintain fixed asset records and perform depreciation and reclassifications.
Support monthly close and the annual audit process.
