Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking an Accountant to support the Finance department with billing, accounts receivable, cash receipts, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end close. You will collaborate with staff to ensure accurate financial records, strengthen controls, and provide reliable information for decision-making.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting and 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment, with strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 2–4 years progressive accounting experience, preferably in AR, billing, GL, or reconciliations.
• Nonprofit, multi-location, or service-oriented experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and maintain customer and program billing accurately and timely.
• Monitor accounts receivable balances and assist with collections as needed.
• Assist with month-end close activities and reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for close and audits.
• Support general accounting duties and respond to internal finance requests.
• Maintain confidential financial information in line with policies and controls.
