Job summary

UNC Pembroke seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member in Optometry to teach across classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Responsibilities include course development, student mentoring, and scholarly activity aligned with rank.

The candidate will support accreditation, model professional conduct, and participate in College administration and community outreach. Sign-on bonus and faculty development funds are available for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• OD or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for optometry licensure in North Carolina if clinical care is required.
• Residency completed or minimum of 3 years clinical experience with active license.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, or supervise at the doctoral level.

Responsibilities

• Teach in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings.
• Develop and assess courses and curricula.
• Supervise and mentor optometry students during training.
• Support accreditation efforts and participate in governance.
• Represent the College in professional and community settings.
