Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for an Open Rank, Non-Tenure Track, OD in Optometric Medicine. This is a 1.0 FTE position in the Division of Academic Affairs, Department of Optometric Medicine (Office).

Responsibilities include teaching across classroom, lab, and clinical settings; course development; and supervision of optometry students. The position supports accreditation, scholarship, and service, with opportunities for a sign-on bonus and faculty

Qualifications

• OD or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for NC optometry licensure if clinical care is required.
• Residency or minimum 3 years clinical experience with active unrestricted license.
• Ability to teach, mentor, or supervise at the doctoral/professional level.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to excellence and to serving a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Teach in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings; course development and assessment.
• Supervise and mentor optometry students.
• Engage in scholarly activity aligned with rank; participate in service and governance.
• Represent the College in professional and community settings.
• Support accreditation efforts and model professional ethics.
• Sign-on bonus and faculty development funds available.
